bookofmypet.com makes a 28-page book about your pet from your photos and your answers. This page says who is behind it, what AI does and what you do, and what applies when something goes wrong.

Company details

How the book is made

  1. You give your pet's name, a photo and your email, and answer a few questions. Every photo is checked automatically for prohibited content.
  2. An AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) writes the words from your answers, under a fixed brief: invent nothing.
  3. An AI image model makes pencil and watercolour drawings from your photos. Every drawing file carries the mark that it was made with AI.
  4. You can have the book made first as a free preview, while the day's previews last. You then see the cover, the title page and three spreads.
  5. You read every page and change what you like: the words, a page rewritten with a note, a photo swapped, a drawing made again. Once, you can have the whole book made again at no charge. We do not read along.
  6. The hardcover is printed only when you click "Print the hardcover". Our print partner Gelato prints it in or near the country of delivery. Delivery usually takes about two weeks, and never more than thirty days.

  • Whichever Face Is Nearest

    Max doesn't bark. At quarter to six he stands next to the bed and breathes on whichever face is nearest, patiently, until that person gives up and gets up. There is no rush in it, no whining, just that steady breathing until someone moves. Then he walks ahead of them to the kitchen, as if the whole thing, the getting up and the going down, was entirely his own idea.

Returns and refunds

Every book is made for one customer, with their own photos and words. So the eBook and the hardcover cannot be withdrawn from after payment. This is what applies instead:

The eBook. If making it fails for a technical reason, or the book is not ready 48 hours after you asked for it, we refund the full amount at your request. If the eBook does not work technically, we fix it or refund it.

The hardcover. If it does not arrive, or arrives damaged or misprinted, email your order number and a photo. You choose: a new copy or your money back. Within two months is always in time.

The gift. As long as it has not been unwrapped, you can withdraw within 14 days of payment. You get the full amount back.
